Following the success of Walking On A Wire, his interpretation of the Bee Gees classic To Love Somebody reached the Dutch charts after appearing in a major supermarket's Christmas campaign in 2020.
His debut album, Everyday Magic (2021), was followed by Outsider (2024), featuring the nationally acclaimed single Don't Like Him On You. His distinctive voice, heartfelt songwriting, and recordings have earned him multiple gold certifications and extensive national radio airplay.
I've known Tim since my days organizing The Hague International Singer-Songwriter Festival (THISSFest) more than a decade ago, and I've followed his remarkable musical journey with a special sense of pride. Having him inaugurate this new series makes the occasion particularly meaningful to me.
And now, I'm thrilled to bring this accomplished recording artist to one of the smallest stages he's likely to encounter.
From Barber Chair to Concert Stage
Night Barber Studios is my private, one-chair barbershop, where I've been welcoming customers for after-hours appointments since 2018.
Music, however, has always been another great passion of mine. I'm a singer-songwriter myself and founded the 1980s Los Angeles new wave band Café Society. After years away from organizing live performances, I've decided it's time to bring music back into my life—and into my studio.
SONGS FROM THE BARBER CHAIR
Intimate live music from the barber chair.
Welcome to Songs From the Barber Chair, my new series of intimate acoustic performances at Night Barber Studios, overlooking Anna Paulownaplein in the heart of Den Haag.
The concept is simple: I invite a talented singer-songwriter to take a seat in my iconic barber chair and perform for a small audience gathered just a few feet away. No elevated stage, no elaborate production, and no distractions. Just great music, personal stories, and the opportunity to experience an artist up close.
My Inaugural Artist: Tim Dawn
Dutch multi-gold-certified artist and songwriter
Some musicians follow a carefully mapped path to success. Others abandon the map altogether.
A prize-winning law graduate headed toward a PhD and a promising legal career, Tim Dawn chose a different direction after backpacking through Australia and New Zealand with his guitar. Returning to the Netherlands, he left his job and settled on a historic lumber mill property in Utrecht, where he found an unlikely creative home among the animals of a petting zoo. His gamble paid off.

On selected Saturday evenings, I'll set aside my barber tools and transform the space into an intimate listening room, bringing musicians and audiences together in an atmosphere more reminiscent of a private house concert than a conventional music venue. With its contemporary interior and windows overlooking Anna Paulownaplein, my studio offers an unexpected setting for live performances, where every seat is close to the artist and every song can be enjoyed without distraction.
On Saturday 7 November, I'm hosting two acoustic performances at 19:30 & 21:00, each lasting approximately 45–50 minutes. I'll provide the refreshments and a little something to eat. All you need to do is settle in and enjoy the music.
Tickets are €20 per person, including a selection of premium alcohol-free refreshments along with a small vegetarian bite. Seating is strictly limited, so I encourage you to reserve your place in advance.
I hope you'll join me for what promises to be a very special evening, celebrating great songwriting, old friendships, and an exciting new chapter at Night Barber Studios.
And until then, you can listen to Tim Dawn's new EP, Next-Level Love - An Introduction––released on 16 October––HERE.
