Keeping it Real: Why I'm Holding Firm on My Haircut Prices

Updated: Feb 4

In a world where price hikes seem to be the norm, and customers often find themselves grappling with increasing costs, it's not every day that you hear a business owner say, "I'm keeping my prices the same." Surprisingly, that's exactly the stance I've chosen to take in my barber business, even in the face of customers insisting they'd be willing to pay more.

You might be wondering, "Why on earth would someone turn down the opportunity to earn more revenue?" The answer lies in my commitment to integrity, customer satisfaction, and a genuine connection with the community.

One of the most common pieces of feedback I receive from my loyal customers is that my haircut prices are too low. They express gratitude for the quality of service they receive and insist that they would gladly pay more to support my business. It's a flattering sentiment, and it might be tempting for any business owner to seize the opportunity to increase profits. However, my decision to keep prices the same is rooted in a deeper understanding of what makes a business thrive in the long run. Here are a few reasons behind my choice:

1. Building Community Trust: I believe that trust is the foundation of any successful business. By keeping my prices steady, I am reinforcing the trust my clients have in me. They know that I value their loyalty and am not seeking to exploit their willingness to pay more.

2. Maintaining Accessibility: One of the cornerstones of my business philosophy is making quality barber services accessible to a wide range of people. Keeping prices affordable ensures that my services remain inclusive and that individuals from diverse economic backgrounds can enjoy a professional haircut without breaking the bank.

3. Fostering Customer Relationships: Beyond transactions, my business thrives on relationships. By maintaining consistent pricing, I am showing my customers that their satisfaction and loyalty matter more than short-term financial gains. This approach fosters a sense of camaraderie and connection between my business and its patrons.

4. Staying True to Values: Every business has its core values. For me, integrity and a commitment to customer satisfaction are non-negotiable. Keeping my prices the same aligns with these values and ensures that I am true to the principles that have guided my business from the beginning.

In a world that often prioritizes profit margins over people, my decision to keep haircut prices unchanged might seem unconventional. However, I believe that by staying true to my values, building trust within the community, and fostering lasting relationships with clients, my business will not only survive but thrive in the long run. Sometimes, it's not about charging the most; it's about offering the best and maintaining a connection that goes beyond the price tag.

5. A Side Note: In 2024, I will be adding a new service, The Night Barber Haircut+. For an additional 20 euros, when you book a Classic Haircut you'll be entitled to an "in-between" touch-up within 14 days of your initial cut. I will expertly tidy behind the ears, neckline, fringe, and sideburns, ensuring you stay polished and perfectly groomed until your next regular cut. Because for me, it's more than just a haircut – it's my commitment to keeping you looking and feeling your absolute best!

Finally, while I have chosen to keep my haircut prices in check for the moment, my accounting forecast suggests a price rise to be in order sometime in mid 2024. Until then, while my cuts might not be the most expensive in town – and may never be – I find it just as rewarding when my customers re-book and keep coming back for another haircut or beard trim.

See you soon in the chair!
